Summer holidays and Summer Serenades

Dear all

I hope you are all enjoying the summer so far. In this newsletter, I will be sharing information about activities mostly relevant for young people and families as well as an update for the Summer Serenades. Please go to the Williamson's website for current exhibitions http://www.williamsonartgallery.org

The Friends have had confirmation of forthcoming Summer Serenades at Williamson Art Gallery. The concerts are every Sunday at 2pm and are free but donations welcomed. This Sunday at 2pm, we will have the pleasure of the company of Chris Sullivan on classical saxophone and Stephanie Howard on piano playing Duke Ellington, Chopin and Rachmaninoff.
  • 09.08 Richard Casey, piano
  • 16.08 Perri & Neil, voice & guitar
  • 23.08 Tom Verity, clarinet

Next week, the Summer Art Workshops will be taking over the newly tidied artroom at the Williamson Art Gallery from Tuesdays to Sundays throughout August. The classes for 8-15 year olds are virtually full but anyone who is interested, should email friendswilliamson@gmail.com to see if we can squeeze you in.

For those already signed up for the classes...good luck and enjoy the experience.

If you can cast your mind back to last year when the Friends ran a Pop Up Shop in the centre of Birkenhead opposite Waterstones? In August, this space will be used for a new Pop Up Shop - Nautical Waves in Birkenhead - with The Stronger Communities Initiative Assembly and Wirral Methodist Housing.

Adults and accompanied children are welcome from 1.30 - 4pm from Tuesday to Fridays to join professional artists to design, make and paint boats and all things nautical.

For more information call Wirral Methodist Housing on 0151 647 5471.

Join them on their boat parade through the Town Centre at 3.30pm every Friday in August.

Many thanks to Big Lottery Fund and The Pyramids Shopping Centre....helping to keep all the events free.
