WAG saves the Day

The Williamson Art Gallery has become the venue for three Wirral Festival of Firsts exhibitions due to a cancellation at another venue in Hoylake.

The Williamson team are very happy to step into the breach to host the displays in need of walls. These are the three shows which will be open to the public from Saturday 9th of July until the 31st of July (a week longer than the original dates):-

First Original
Test your artistic eye to find original works hidden among “old masters” re-created by local artists.
(Concept & curation, Barbara Singleton)

Enter a competition to win £100, also leave bids to purchase pictures: all proceeds to Claire House.

A Sense of Place
Creative fusion project involving artists from Merseyside, Croatia, Slovenia, Scotland and Poland.
(Concept & curation: Istra Toner)

Interpretations
Artists from West Kirby Grammar School show their interpretations of contemporary artists.

#WAGsavesDay

Apologies to those visitors expecting to see Village Wirral. Many thanks to the Two Rivers Art Group for being so understanding about the shortening of their contribution to the Village Wirral exhibition, Village Wirral Revisited. Some of the prints will still be available for sale through the gallery shop.

The Village Wirral exhibition will return after the Festival of Firsts display but in a new incarnation with works from our collection tying in with the theme of looking at the townships of Wirral and bringing out more from our stores.
