Make and Explore needs supporting

Following on from a successful 5 month long Art Play pilot project funded through P H Holt, the Williamson and Priory Friends were successful in their application for funding for participatory art activities for pre-school children and their parents/carers. Williamson Art Gallery & Museum continue to work in partnership with freelance artist and creative practitioner, Nicola McGovern and a variety of local organisations that support families facing disadvantage and inequality of access. We are coming to the end of this funding and are trying to source new funding to support this worthwhile project. Please contact williamsonandprioryfriends@gmail.com or ring 0151 666 3665 to discuss any support you or your company can offer.
The project has offered a tailor-made programme of family-friendly art activities inspired by the collections, which aim to build confidence, raise participants’ aspirations, improve access and provide opportunities for social development. The programme also aims to develop young children’s confidence, communications and social skills as they explore new environments, materials, textures and equipment and are introduced to the museum’s extensive collection.

The project “make & explore” has been funded by Paul Hamlyn Foundation over a 24 month period as part of its Widening Access and Participation in the Arts programme, which supports organisations to gather evidence about new approaches and their potential to make a difference. Paul Hamlyn Foundation believe that the arts play an important role in enriching young people’s learning and educational experiences.
